Snowy Sunday Sunrise on Santiago Peak
This was the view post-Thanksgiving Sunday morning, towards Santiago Peak from the headquarters of the Soaring Hawk Ranch Retreat Center. Much of the high country surrounding the Marathon Basin received eight to ten inches of snow on Saturday, turning the area into a winter wonderland.

Dilly Dip Surprise in Ozona
While stopping in Ozona for some haute cuisine at the Dairy Queen, I spot a strange looking dog in the passenger side of a pickup off in the corner of the parking lot. On further examination, I meet, Maji, a goat, who is on his way to Terlingua with his driver/buddy Jerry. Jerry's a musician from west of San Antonio going to work on his house in Terlingua and to kick back with his girlfriend during the Memorial Day weekend. Jerry has thoughtfully removed the passenger side seat, built a half high plywood divider in the cab (so Maji doesn't try to take the steering wheel) and voila! Maji is good to go in air-conditioned comfort!Maji, a Boer goat, was a wedding present to Jerry's daughter about two years ago. Instead of eating him, Jerry adopted him and they have been buddies ever since. Jerry reports that Maji is more similar in his behavior to a cat than a dog, being very independent and choosing when he wants attention. Since you can see the pickup is full, Jerry's girlfriend was following along in her car.....
